Job Description
Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative individual for the position of Speech Language Pathologist to provide clinical expertise in assessments and therapy in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), cognitive communication, articulation, language, voice, fluency, and feeding/swallowing disorders. The successful individual will provide direct therapy, group therapy, mediated therapy and parent training.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology, from an accredited university and Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
We are looking for someone with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a Pediatric department within a health care environment and a minimum of six (6) months’ experience working in evidenced-based approach to service delivery. Candidates that possess Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition (ADOS-2) certification from an accredited program and experience using screening tests for Autism and FASD are preferred.
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Pediatric Outpatient Services, formally known as Pediatric Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU), is an outpatient unit that provides services to children from 0-18 years. The clinics are led by NEO Kids Pediatricians, Nurse Practitioners, or visiting specialists. Many of the clinics have the support of additional team members such as nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dieticians, and social workers.

HSN INCENTIVES

REHABILITATION PROFESSIONALS INCENTIVE GRANT
The incentive grant program offers taxable incentive grants of up to $5,000 per eligible year, to a maximum of $15,000 paid over a three-year period to speech language pathologists who establish their practice in Northern Ontario and accept full-time positions which are fully funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) and which are approved by the Northern Health Programs (NHP). In order to be eligible for this incentive grant, the NHP must approve the application before the applicant establishes his/her practice. More information regarding this grant can be found here.
