Job Description

Now hiring a Safety Superintendent for a contract position.

CORE DUTIES

Conduct regular work area observations to ensure activities are performed in accordance with site health safety requirements;
Attend site, divisional and corporate safety meetings, contractor meetings, department meetings;
Act as a resource to site employees and supervision on health safety hazards;
Address and document safety suggestions and concerns;
Conduct regular workplace inspections;
Conduct job task observations (JTOs);
Investigate injuries, accidents and near misses as per site corrective action processes;
Complete industrial hygiene sampling and analysis and/or assist in arrangement/facilitation for external services;
Review completed health safety equipment inspections and complete any follow up;
Complete health safety reviews for new equipment, new products and design changes;
Facilitate and gather information for WSIB and ESDC reporting purposes;
Complete self-assessments, gap analysis and general maintenance of health safety procedures.
Other Duties:

Complete health safety training as required;
Assist with facilitation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
Qualifications:

Canadian Registered Safety Professional would be strongly preferred
A minimum of five years of relevant work experience is preferred
Thorough understanding of occupational health and safety legislation (preferably federal) and the ability to advise corrective actions and facilitate change.
Strong leadership skills and excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office including word, excel, outlook and powerpoint
Able to work collaboratively and proactively in a team environment
