Main Purpose of the Job:
The Associate Director will assume a leadership role as the day-to-day manager
for all MIRARCO’s research Centres. They will be the main point of contact for
the variety of research projects and activities that MIRARCO staff are involved in.
The Associate Director will work closely with the CEO and President on strategic
projects and key areas of new business and research development.
Specifically, the Associate Director will be expected to provide oversight, project
management, supervision, lead business development, partner engagement, and
assist with securing funding, contracts, and reporting to different clients and
partners.

Qualifications and Experience.
The Associate Director should have a technical background (whether Science or
Engineering) ideally in a field that is closely aligned with any one of MIRARCO’s
research Centres, and possess a post-secondary degree. An advanced degree
(Masters or PhD) is preferred. It would be an asset to have experience with the
following:
• Working in an academic setting
• Knowledge and/or experience working with the mineral resource industry
• Applying for grant funding
• Project management
• Managing a team
• Business development
• Basic finance, budgeting, cost management
The Associate Director will require language proficiency in English (French and
other languages an asset), and be an effective communicator.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leading, mentoring and sustaining an effective team of subordinates to
ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of project objectives and
commitments.
• Development and delivery of tools that meet the needs of the mining
industry.
• Contribute to the development of MIRARCO as a multi-disciplinary R&D
corporation.
• Project and team management
• Business development – bring on new clients and projects that meet the
business objectives.

• Securing industry and government funding to support projects.
• Supporting deliverable (reports, tech transfer, commercialization) for
partners and clients

Working Conditions:
This role requires residency in Sudbury and in person/in office regular working
hours. Some work flexibility could be discussed for partial remote options. Some
travel (local and international) and field work will be required.

Remuneration:
The starting salary scale for this position is $85,000 to $100,000 + benefits, and
will be dependent on education, work, and professional experience.
